SHOE TALK WITH RubyBlue from Texas
Q: Why do you love shoes?
A: Oh, because they are feminine, I love my feet, I think that an outfit is merely an outfit without the shoe. A shoe is you personality almost as much as a handbag -except you put your handbag down. I love to cross my legs and casually bounce the pretty shoe on top! Such a statement
Q: What is the worst shoe trend of all time?
A: Anything that boasts comfort only. I KNOW its necessary but its scary. I do not like those wooden dutch looking shoes with the pleather band over your toe. Please no!
Q: If you could design the perfect shoe, what features would they have?
A: The perfect shoe would be black grosgain peekaboo toe with a heel to die for and the strap would be around your ankle once and then I would attach a different vintage stone to each shoe as my mood see fit, yes, at the buckle of the ankle…. YUM!
Q: Who is your favorite shoe designer?
A: Oh dear…its a tie between MADDEN for accessibility and flip flops, Christian Louboutin for sexy, Betsey Johnson for my retro minx moods, and Donald J. Pliner; who designed my fave shoe of all time and signed it…it was a wedge heel in grey and bone python and black pony top. I am pisces - the mood is the moment.
Q: What shoe trend would you like to see disappear?
A: I adore the ballet slipper for fall (ah, to rest the weary foot) and think Tory Burch does this well…however, the knockoff…people it just looks like a hood ornament on a knockoff…pretty much any designer backwards GD versus DG….
Q: What is your most favorite shoe trend of all time?
A: The almighty thong/flip flop…so many ways to make that pretty…and tan feet with polished toes…this is the best time of year for the shoe.

Buying Dubai
December 8, 2008
“You can’t take all those shoes,” Sweetie told me as I was packing for an extended adventure in Dubai. Because I could only check two bags, I painfully eliminated as many shoes as I could, only to discover that I still did not have room for even these 13 pair I had selected.
Since Dubai is the Shopping Mecca of the Middle East – and I’d be arriving just in time for the month-long Shopping Festival that attracts people from all over the world, shoe shopping would give me a mission for exploring the city.
One of my first excursions was to the famous Gold Souk, an Arabian market comprised of twisty streets and alleys where tiny shops display a breathtaking assortment of real bling—gold, diamonds, rubies, pearls…
Getting lost is part of the fun of exploring the souk and, of course, I did. Down one of the little alleyways the shops displayed cashmere and silk pashminas in every imaginable color and fun embroidered and sequined silk slides made in India. The asking price for the shoes averaged around 50 dirham (about $15) each - perfect for buying in multiples. Unfortunately, the shop did not have my size in the turquoise, green, or gold so I only bought one pair in a deep burgundy. However, in true Arabian form, I bargained and ended up paying only about $8.50.
georgina goodman’s store - Old Bond Street
December 8, 2008
April 18th, 2008
we just got pics from georgina goodman’s Old Bond Street store. it’s stunning! “Old Bold Street is the most prestigious retail location on our planet, it is the World’s ‘luxury shopping mall’ and to be here, at top-table, rubbing shoulders with the international household names in luxury is truly a Cinderella story,” explains Goodman. “Setting up the store felt like getting dressed to go to a ball. The feeling is of utter and total excitement. It is a bold step for us and positions us in a different league. We fully understand what it means and indeed, it is a dream realized. Five years ago when we started I could not really have dared imagine we could be here now. In a way, that is why I leave the dreaming and planning to BJ (my husband and business partner). He made this happen and brought together with our team the elements necessary to put it all in place. I am deeply proud of our collective achievement and feel humbled by the grace of our team.” need more? check our their designer page in our shopping guide.
