There’s no place like… SAKS 10022-SHOE

December 7, 2008

shuzsociety told you earlier about the shoe floor with it’s own zip code—Saks Fifth Avenue 10022-SHOE. It has been so well received, Saks Fifth Avenue will bring the famed “10022-SHOE” to its Phoenix, San Francisco, Beverly Hills, South Coast Plaza and Houston Galleria stores this fall—a year after the New York flagship’s shoe salon coined the name and earned the feat of being the first floor in United States Postal history to obtain its own unique “ZIP Code.”
As part of the launch of 10022-SHOE in these locations, new designer collections will be added to each store along with a broader assortment of shoes from its current designers. Celebrations will be held throughout the Fall Season and include personal appearances by Jonathan Kelsey, Brian Atwood and Giuseppe Zanotti as well as special events in partnership with Jimmy Choo, Gucci, CHANEL and more.

Winter Sandals - the answer to global warming?

December 6, 2008

There is a growing phenomena toward a fall sandal look. We first started to notice open toe shoes in flats and peep-toe heels. Now we see a full fledged sandal look coming to the runways. The colors are awesome. The material’s complementary. The new shoe bootie looks, the ankle, mid calf, and below-the-knee boot will stay at the forefront of fashion this season. But this is a twist of season and might be the answer to global warming in the footwear industry. This new trend seems to be making some noise so watch for the winter sandal. Great for the hosiery manufacturers too. We will see some places flourish more than others. But watch for it! It’s happening. DOLCE GABBANA

Olympic Platform Deva-ing

December 6, 2008

With the Olympics over and the medals won you would think the competition would be over. Not the worlds shoe designers. They want you to stand taller than ever and the platforms just keep coming. Yves St. Laurent just released a platform they call Army that gives the global warming sandal a real heel to stand on. This is the latest shot fired but watch for many more till we give one the gold metal. I give this one a 9.0 in platform style with a twist. Enjoy-Shoes designershoeblog.com Bill Dowling

Christian Louboutin hits HOT-lanta!!!

December 5, 2008

For shoe-lovers, “THE” quintessential 21st-century shoe designer will be showing off his spring 2009 collection at Jeffrey Atlanta. Yes YOU can MEET Christian Louboutin, who’s achieved monumental celebrity status in his own right, THIS FRIDAY at the Phipps Plaza “mini” department store of retail maverick Jeffrey Kalinsky, who will also be in attendance.

Don Purcel store Manager of Jeffrey Atlanta was kind enough to give me few minutes on the phone this week. “Yes,” he exclaimed when prompted, “the phones HAVE been ringing OFF THE HOOK!” He confirmed that Louboutin will be signing autographs on shoes bought in the store, and that they stocked up plenty for fall, pulling extra pairs from their New York location. For the spring shoes Louboutin is previewing, “Women can buy against what Jeffrey’s bought for spring.” Expecting it to be standing room only, Purcel added, “This is Christian Louboutin’s first Atlanta appearance. It is a PRETTY BIG THING!” We’ll say! Jeffrey’s is Louboutin’s ONLY Atlanta appearance!
