SHOE TALK with Dana from Georgia:
Q: Why do you love shoes?
A: I love the way shoes can completely change my perspective, my esteem, and my mood. Beautiful shoes make me feel beautiful and I find myself walking with a little more confidence!
Q: Worst shoe trend of all time?
A: Crocs!!! They aren’t cute on anyone over the age of 10!
Q: If you could design the perfect shoes, what features would they have?
A: I would design a high heel with a rounded toe, but super comfortable so I could wear them all day and not have to yank them off my feet as soon as I got in my car! I love solid bright colors and chunky buckles so that would have to be included as well.
Q: Favorite shoe designer?
A: Balenciaga, Nine West, and Chloe
Q: What shoe trend would you like to see disappear?
A: Birkenstocks
Q: Favorite shoe trend of all time?
A: The peek-a-boo toe…

Q: Why do you love shoes?
My love for shoes stems back to about the age of 5. I used to step into my mom’s shoes to try and walk around in them because they were so pretty. At the time, I remembered saying that when I grew up, I was going to have rooms of pretty shoes so that I could look pretty just like my mommy! My passion for shoes has taken over. I literally turned one of my bedrooms into a “shoe room” so that it mimicks a shoe store; complete with the little bench and big mirror to try them on. I’ve also collected “Just The Right Shoe” collectibles for years. I have EVERYTHING in shoes–bedding, christmas ornaments, dishes, push pins, toothbrush holder, barware shaped like shoes, air freshners–EVERYTHING!!! My door mat in front of my house is a set of two leopard heels!! I am addicted to shoes. I think that even if you have on a not-so-hot outfit, if you have a hot pair of shoes, everything else will fall into place. A shoe says so much about a person. You can NEVER have too many pairs! Shoes make me emotional. I can cry at the drop of a hat if I see a shoe that just blows me away.”

Q: Why do you love shoes?
A: I love shoes because no matter how you’re feeling they always fit, always look fabulous and have the ability to make or break an outfit.
Q: If you could design the perfect pair of shoes, what features would they have?
A: There could never be just one perfect shoe. The closest, though, would be 4-inch heels with platform and soft, cushiony soles.
Q: Who is your favorite shoe designer?
A: Christian Louboutin, Manolo Blahnik, Moschino, Giuseppe Zanotti, Marc Jacobs, Prada
Q: What shoe trend would you like to see disappear?
A: Designers who are trying to turn sneakers into high heels should really stop.
Q: What is your most favorite shoe style of all time?
A: I don’t know what my most favorite trend is…I love high heels, platforms, wedges, ballet flats, pointy toes, round toes, slouchy boots, over-the-knee boots…I clearly have a problem.

Q: Why do you love shoes?
A: Shoes are the exclamation point at the end of your fashion statement.
Q: If you could design the perfect pair of shoes, what features would they have?
A: A sufficiently padded foot pad. Most heels are so under padded! An unusual detail paired with a classic shape or style. Maybe a knee high black boot with a great shape– there are so many out there, and so many are just not right!
Q; Who is your favorite shoe designer?
A: Manolo Blahnik. Christian Louboutin. Betsey Johnson. John Fluevog.
Q: What shoe trend would you like to see disappear?
A: Uggs paired with leggings.
Q: What is your most favorite shoe style of all time?
A; I’m really loving the heeled brogue, and wonder how I’ve gone my life without them.

PROFILE OF A SHOE FANATIC!
Ladie Knight is in charge of technical design and quality control for dreamboat designer Yigal Azrouel. They had only their second fashion show this week - and received rave reviews.
Knight’s favorite shoe - original Roger Vivier, “because he invented the stiletto, and I’m a stiletto girl, even though I’m in flats today.” That’s because she lives in New York City.
Her shoe collection? “About 36 pairs per season,” she checks her shoes, gives away any that are too worn … and then buys new ones.

Q: Why do you love shoes?
A: Shoes are what pulls an outfit all together. If you have the wrong shoes, your outfit is going to look a little off if not completely. For me, if I have on a great pair of shoes, my confidence level soars. Only in the right pair of shoes, do I feel I can pull off a black mini skirt or a satin dress over a tshirt. And let’s face it, we all love shoes because they can never make us feel fat; we can all wear them.
Q: If you could design the perfect pair of shoes, what features would they have?
A: Something more classic than trendy with the perfect sized heel for a woman who’s 5′10 and doesn’t wish to tower of her 6′0 husband; sturdy and a bit pointy.
Q: Who is your favorite shoe designer?
A: Jeffrey Campbell for keeping it realistic.
Q: What shoe trend would you like to see disappear?
A: Platforms. Remember back when the Spice Girls walked around in those on stage? Ugh.
Q: What is your most favorite shoe style of all time?
A: The black stiletto. Enough said.
Corso Como opens second boutique in Brazil
December 22, 2008
Corso Como, the newish women’s shoe brand, expands its retail reach with a second boutique in Brazil, its country of origin. The brand, which launched in spring 2006, quickly developed a loyal following of women who desire style, innovation, comfort and value supported by eco-friendly packaging (by using recyclable paper on all packaging they save about 2,000 trees per year).
The 450 square foot boutique located at Barra Shopping Sul in Proto Alegre City designed by local architect Stella Coelhon, is beautifully modern and clean. The native Brazilian wooden fixtures, hand silk-screened wallpaper and palette of grays, gold and crème act as a backdrop for the wonderfully colorful and textured collection of Corso Como footwear, bags, belts, jewelry and eyewear.

“Corso Como’s first boutique opened in Spring 2008 in Sao Paulo and has been
thriving from day one,” explains Carlos Kray, CEO of Strada, the parent company of
Corso Como. The brands’ philosophy is to provide beautifully crafted shoes that exhibit fresh innovations in style, impeccable detail and luxurious comfort, and retail from $98 for sandals to $310 for boots.

Shoe talk with Wendy from Oregon
Q: Why do you love shoes?
A: They are works of art. The most fabulous thing about these works of art is that you become a part of the art. Shoes transform you with the theme and feeling they represent.
Q: If you could design the perfect pair of shoes, what features would they have?
A: Slender, Sleek, patent, pointed toe, stileto slingbacks, with bows on the toes.
Q: Who is your favorite shoe designer?
A: I have a love of classic late 50’s style paired with bold coloring. I have to say my favorite designer is who ever is currently producing my favorite style.
Q: What shoe trend would you like to see disappear?
A: I believe all shoes are made for a specific purpose so they should be worn for that purpose. Flip flops in the winter? Grunge style at a dinner party? Maybe etiquite gets over looked in the name of fashion. I don’t agree.
Q: What is your most favorite shoe style of all time?
A: Slender, Sleek, patent, pointed toe, stileto slingbacks, with bows on the toes in two toned spectator colors.
