Specialty shoe salon Linus Lounge in the news again

December 7, 2008

Dallas’ own LINUS LOUNGE received a veritable avalanche of web activity with recent post “shoe lover opens shoe lounge” in Canadian Press. The article also appeared on The Star Press and Seattle Times, to name but a few.

With an impeccably edited collection of stunning shoes, Linus Lounge provides a brief respite from the hustle of Dallas’ nearby shopping venues. The shoes are grouped together on shelves which sit in front of mirrored walls, or proudly displayed low coffee table. Owner Kristen Radovich has great taste in furnishings, too!

This fall, she offers the casual chic styles of Banfi Zambrelli, wildly interesting wares from Brazilian designer Franziska Hübener and Serbian-born shoe designer Dusica Sacks of Dusica Dusica.

See more images of her store, from our spring story. Radovich is having her “The Art of the Shoe” now through November 1st. You can stop by anytime Tuesdays through Saturdays, 11am - 6pm. After that, Ladies, you’ll have to call for an appointment.

Giddy Up Girl! Lucchese’s been in town…

December 6, 2008

only a mile or so south of the “Strip” sits an unassuming stand-alone building known as Boot Barn. since 1978, they’ve been outfitting the equestrian scene in sin-city (indeed, one exists!!) in well-made boots. last weekend’s Lucchese trunk show saw 95.5 WFMS and some Chevy men showing off their trucks, all welcoming the crowd of boot kickers inside.

remember that pair of “125th Anniversary” boots I blogged last week? what DOES a pair of $12,500 boots feel like? well, butta’. Lucchese’s amazing and time-proven twisted vamp is indeed covetable! thanks Fred for “walking” me through them! saturday’s trunk show gave Boot Barn’s customers a chance to design their own pair with Lucchese’s team of experts; namely Steve, Ricardo and Doug! and from the sidelines, i think they all rather enjoyed themselves!

alright, alright, “country” not your bag? not far from the neon strip, while there is plenty to wet one’s western whistle, they’re also stocked with shelves of trinkets and candies, dependable work boots, and more Levi’s than i dare count.

“Excuse me, I think your shoe is ringing!”

December 6, 2008

only 10 days left to submit your entry to go to the premier of “get smart,” starring the devil wears prada’s anne hathaway and steve carell of the 40 year old virgin and the office. all you have to do is submit your best shoe phone video. need pointers? there’s plenty from other entrants. good luck!

for you kiddos, the original ’60s show was created by mel brooks and buck henry, and starred don adams as Maxwell Smart, a secret U.S. government spy agency. when the series ended in 1970, it had won 7 emmy awards.

wikipedia dishes the dirt on the original shoe phone, “perhaps the most recognizable ‘gag’ from the show was smart’s shoe phone, which has become somewhat of a comic icon: smart would communicate…using a rotary-dialed telephone concealed in his shoe, similar to a modern cell phone. while such a device was decades ahead of its time in real life, its numerous design flaws—such as the loud bell, the need to take off his shoe to use it and that it required a dime to place a call–led to various humorously awkward situations.”

Oprah and the cast of sex and the city

December 6, 2008

if you were one of the say two women who missed last week’s reunion of the sex and the city cast on oprah, we’ve found a few clips for you. youtube is alive with them! my girls and i have since gabbed about how healthy SJP’s hair looked, or how perfectly proportioned miss davis’ perfectly complected face is. and did kim cattrall say she’s hit the big five-oooh! oh, she’s fab!!!

yes, we’re all excited! wonder if the film premier evokes years from now questions like, “do you remember what you were wearing to the premier?” yes, you’ll remember. sites like stuff new zealand purports Sarah Jessica Parker has 81 outfit changes in sex and the city: the movie. you do the math, at 135 minutes, that’s like new threads every 1.66 minutes. we fashionistas should all be so lucky. and the shoes!!!! still looking for that number. you stay tuned.

may 30th. see you there by the way. oprah said so, “we owe it to ourselves america to make this an event for girlfriends to remember!”
