since 2002, the all-girl band the platforms have evolved into a saucy mix of youthful spirit and experienced musicianship, by mixing noisy but melodic rock with a flair for 60’s and 70’s inspired fashion. they may look like good girls, but the music says, “i wanna be bad . . . !!” this weekend the fab four premier their first music video at alamo draft house in austin, “hot little ride” which they shot earlier this year. this song has little to do with wheels, folks. and that’s just the way they like it. their first single, bang me is a roaring anthem about a girl getting what she wants. amen, sister!

Great Britain’s synchronized swimmer Jenna Randall Strutts her stuff

when athlete jenna randall, half of great britain synchronized swim-team Olivia Allison & Jenna Randall, is out of the water she loves her strutt couture slingback pumps.

though she admits she’s barely worn them (and who could with an olympic-paced training schedule of SIX-DAYS-A-WEEK with 5 hours in the pool a day and 2 hours in the gym we’re hoping to see her in them once the games are over.

Kylie Minogue hits Georgina Goodman Old Bond Street locale

Got a quick note from our friends at Georgina Goodman that Kylie Minogue (though, they sent us simply “Kylie” — first name basis, you know!) sauntered into their Old Bond Street store and bought 5 pairs of extra-ordinary shoes!

“Such a lovely girl… she even posed for pictures with our Store Staff, loving the shoes, kicking her feet in the air and thrilled with the discovery of her “new favourite shoe designer,” offers Bjorg, Georgina Goodman’s International Sales and Marketing Manager.

Recently featured in WWD Accessories, for her fancy cut-out bootie, she also finds time to design shoes for both Alexander McQueen and Italian fashion label Casadei. About her collaborations, Georgina tells WWD, “I love it. It gives me the opportunity to express myself in new and totally different arenas.”

Indeed it seems opening the new store in Old Bond Street is having the desired result in terms of profile, positioning and awareness amongst the fashion glitterati and pubs.

seriously, how much do i LOVE this shoe? how much do YOU? surfing shoe sites like zappos.com is not a bad gig, in fact it’s a downright fun-tastic way to spend ones work day! there ARE too many shoes to covet in any one particular season… i’m paradoxically cursed and blessed with seeing thousands each spring and fall. i say cursed, as i fall in love with many of them… and the exercise in self-restraint is often painful. what would i do with all of them? oh! i’d wear them, but i’ve already amassed a collection that affords me more than 1.7 pairs a day for a well-heeled year. but, i digress.

THIS SHOE! it’s kind of my favorite sherbet and grass green color combo. the slingback is dainty but necessary, while the heel height at 3 1/2″ inches is manageable. and that bowed ornament on the toe is simply snappy, just above the piped peep-toe. i’m practically drooling. perfect to pair with that summertime dress that reveals my sun-kissed shoulders. or to slip on under jeans so when i walk, the ladies stare. they are springtime spectacular! come to mama!!!! get your footwear fix of dsquared2 at Zappos.com…

so we got the word that there’s a 125th anniversary edition boot from lucchese with a retail price of $12,500. a dear friend once asked me about some “lu-cheese” boots. oh noooo you din’t! it’s “lu-kay-zee” and they are proud of their 125 years of hand-making boots right here in the US of A, el paso to be exact.
