As temps drop, be on the lookout for steamy resort shoes…

Sure, it’s cold outside. Warm your insides knowing as soon as temps allow, you can slide yourself into any these fabulous spring footwear. This next few weeks while you’re frantically shopping for your loved ones, saunter by your favorite shoe boutique for a little one-on-one with your favorite designers. It’ll ensure you’re no grinch. And to wet your merry whistle, we’re showing you what you can look forward to:
COLOR COMBO: The bold palette of the Davis by Ruthie Davis Mondrian-inspired pump will no doubt put some pep in your steph and Luciano Padovan’s nod to neon—the orange/fuchsia/blue neon peep-toe patent—will turn the heads, ladies. Calvin Klein mixes rich coral patent with tan-colored suede in a play of color and materials that garner attention. Gigi Favela combines several bold colors for her Ibiza
GOING NATIVE: Homage was paid to our country’s rich heritage from several designers who worked fringe and feathers into their footwear. Bettye Muller’s fringed-flat totally rocks. Angeleigh Anastasio offers a flirty T-strap suede sandal with a girlish grin and this darling flat from resort sandal maker bo’em turns up the fun factor! Born busts out whip-stitched and braided sandals and Pour la Victoire is bringing out a fun beaded moc.
MATERIAL: We’ve been anxiously waiting for Jessica Bennett’s stained green leather boot. Boots for spring show you’re just girlie enough to hang tough. Trust us. you. want. a. pair. Robert Zur’s “true glove” leather drivers feel like your most comfortable slippers. Be on the lookout for Frye’s vegetable-tanned leather whose colors are as yummy as their new silhouettes. Plus you’ll also see elastic straps worked into a few clever designs (think Colin Robertson from this year) and satin, satin, satin.
SHOE SHAPE: Platforms are still the height of fashion, folks. Modern Vintage collaborates with Johnny Wujek for a sculpted strappy sandal. Designer Georgina Goodman offers height with this strappy 130mm leather clog. Claudia Ciuti’s triple-strap crackle metallic leather platform with ankle strap is stunning. Claudio Merazzi who’s always good for a tall, stilt-like creation doesn’t disappoint with his fur and swarovsky collection.

A mother of a shoe
December 6, 2008
May 11th, 2008
happy mum’s day. hope it’s a good one for you and yours. and just for fun i went with mine to check out a few open houses near the big D. we traipsed across the hardwood floors, tested the kitchen cabinets and cooed at the spacious master closets. with 10- and 12-foot ceilings there was plenty of room for a lady’s needs but i noticed not a lot of attention was given to shoe space. seriously, where are the shoe-shelves people?
a grown woman needs a place for her footwear doesn’t she? at a minimum, in the largest house (5,900+ sq.ft) there was dedicated room for maybe 20 pair. boooooo! plenty of hanging space for accompanying clothes, but where would you put the shoes? i poo-pooed each place and came straight home in search for a sunday shoe.
prada’s whitewash sandal takes today’s cake. in vintage nappa leather and the open toe with grosgrain bow, it reminds me of something i pictured my mom in—back in her day with her permed hair and high-waisted belled jeans—but with a modern twist i’d be seen in. heels are getting sturdier, and this 110mm thick white wash wooden heel is no exception. at $595 they Kind of Rock! happy sunday.
“hello (new shoe) lover…”
December 5, 2008
May 14th, 2008
we sole sisters know what sex and the city did for manolo and choo and louboutin. well, for shoes in general ~ “hello lover” ring a bell? besides it didn’t hurt that sarah jessica parker’s legs are utterly amazing! and of course thanks in no small part to the talents and perseverance of a one miss patricia field.
it is little wonder then that designers met the challenge of tight movie deadlines or seemingly unrealistic wardrobe requests for the opportunity to be featured in sex and the city the movie. it’s the big screen, after all, and we’re all eager to see what miss bradshaw (as channeled thru- fields’ vision) will be donning. we want close-ups people!
case in point, brilliant footwear designer Eileen Shields may be a shoo-in. her silver peep-toe “bette” was requested one evening as they were closing up offices. field’s assistant said they needed the shoe for Carrie for a scene shooting THE VERY NEXT DAY! (you know when you know, right?)… it had to be fedexed for first AM delivery. the drama came when SJP’s size was not in stock in NY so they contacted Lee Lee’s in San Antonio, TX and had them ship the shoes. they say folks in texas is reeeaalllll nice—the store obliged, the shoes shipped and as far as we know carrie got her “bettes.” we’ll see may 30th won’t we?
quiz: find the designer shoe
December 5, 2008
June 8th, 2008
the shuzmuse sends me cute little three-question quiz from chicago tribune. i can do this. click a. or b. which shoe is more expensive? they ask, can you really tell the difference?.
number 1. i choose a.
reason: the rouching on the toe looks nice. the cut of the heel looks more refined.
number 2. i choose b.
reason: that’s one high heel. that’s one shiny gold metallic. there is something meticulously flawless and damn sexy about its design.
number 3. i choose a.
reason: that’s the jimmy choo shoe we featured in may’s shoe of the day. i loved it then, too.
how’d YOU do? how I do? i’m proud to report, i scored a 100%!
Tulsa’s 2nd Annual - Wine, Women & Shoes
December 5, 2008
June 23rd, 2008
These are good times ladies and if you weren’t at this weekend’s event “Wine, Women & Shoes” you may have missed them. Brainchild of Elaine Honig, “Wine, Women & Shoes” to date has had more than twenty WW&S events across the country, with more than 6,000 attendees, and has raised more than $2 million for women’s and children’s causes.
T-town welcomed footwear designer Angelo of Angeleigh Anastasio to the event who showed (and sold) his spring 08 collection of women’s shoes. Tulsa’s own Miss Jackson’s was representing, as was The Glass Slipper, J. Cole and Saks Fifth Avenue.
Thursday night was a wine and shoe pairing. Among the vintners were Gabrielle Collection, Calistoga Cellars, Gruet and Hahn Family Wines. For the full list, check out Tulsa’s site. The beneficiary: YWCA who vows to eliminate racism and empower women. Friday night was the much-anticipated patron dinner at the renowned Gilcrease Museum. And Saturday entertained with a who’s-who fashion show of area women then wine tasting, mingling and shoe shopping.
Julie Adams, last week’s “fab friday” winner joined the festivities along with her friends and we lucked out with a photo snap IN HER “Shannon Britt” SHOES! We love them on you, Lady! We were also happy to meet Sharon Gallagher, VP of community investments at Tulsa Area United Way. She was the lucky winner of a pair of Angeleigh Anastasio shoes AND an “obsessed” membership to shuzsociety for a year ($220 value). She chose the rhinestone-encrusted sandal “Margherita” in Nero/White. And, I think I detected a certain giddiness in her acceptance gait.
It was a great three-days of events. Thank you Ladies for all of your support! We sole sister’s do stick together!

These are some of the most comfortable shoes that I have ever worn. They have a c-ped certified removable insole for hours of comfort and a positive message that should give us all comfort. They are available in men’s and women’s sizes. When you take off the five inch heels these become a foot massage that reinvigorates the foot. Stick a pair under the front seat and put the 5″ heels in your purse till you get there.
