Corso Como opens second boutique in Brazil

December 22, 2008

Corso Como, the newish women’s shoe brand, expands its retail reach with a second boutique in Brazil, its country of origin. The brand, which launched in spring 2006, quickly developed a loyal following of women who desire style, innovation, comfort and value supported by eco-friendly packaging (by using recyclable paper on all packaging they save about 2,000 trees per year).

The 450 square foot boutique located at Barra Shopping Sul in Proto Alegre City designed by local architect Stella Coelhon, is beautifully modern and clean. The native Brazilian wooden fixtures, hand silk-screened wallpaper and palette of grays, gold and crème act as a backdrop for the wonderfully colorful and textured collection of Corso Como footwear, bags, belts, jewelry and eyewear.

Corso Como shop in Brazil

“Corso Como’s first boutique opened in Spring 2008 in Sao Paulo and has been
thriving from day one,” explains Carlos Kray, CEO of Strada, the parent company of
Corso Como. The brands’ philosophy is to provide beautifully crafted shoes that exhibit fresh innovations in style, impeccable detail and luxurious comfort, and retail from $98 for sandals to $310 for boots.

Shoe talk with Steffie from Flevoland, Almere, Netherlands

Q: Why do you love shoes?
A: It’s your only bodysize that doesn’t get fat ! & it’s your final touch on every outfit.

Q: If you could design the perfect pair of shoes, what features would they have?
A: They would walk like little clouds but look like there are killing you. I like a classic look. A bit vintage, glamour, sweet but still in new style.

Q: Who is your favorite shoe designer?
A: Balenciaga, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Dsquared and love Moschino
For now I like the asosline :P

Q: What shoe trend would you like to see disappear?
A: Leopard print ! and i’m not very into thin mary jane straps.

Q: What is your most favorite shoe style of all time?
A: The gladiator inspired heels that Asley Olsen wears and last I felt in love with beautiful suede knee boots, like that trend !

SHOE TALK WITH RubyBlue from Texas

Q: Why do you love shoes?
A: Oh, because they are feminine, I love my feet, I think that an outfit is merely an outfit without the shoe. A shoe is you personality almost as much as a handbag -except you put your handbag down. I love to cross my legs and casually bounce the pretty shoe on top! Such a statement

Q: What is the worst shoe trend of all time?
A: Anything that boasts comfort only. I KNOW its necessary but its scary. I do not like those wooden dutch looking shoes with the pleather band over your toe. Please no!

Q: If you could design the perfect shoe, what features would they have?
A: The perfect shoe would be black grosgain peekaboo toe with a heel to die for and the strap would be around your ankle once and then I would attach a different vintage stone to each shoe as my mood see fit, yes, at the buckle of the ankle…. YUM!

Q: Who is your favorite shoe designer?
A: Oh dear…its a tie between MADDEN for accessibility and flip flops, Christian Louboutin for sexy, Betsey Johnson for my retro minx moods, and Donald J. Pliner; who designed my fave shoe of all time and signed it…it was a wedge heel in grey and bone python and black pony top. I am pisces - the mood is the moment.

Q: What shoe trend would you like to see disappear?
A: I adore the ballet slipper for fall (ah, to rest the weary foot) and think Tory Burch does this well…however, the knockoff…people it just looks like a hood ornament on a knockoff…pretty much any designer backwards GD versus DG….

Q: What is your most favorite shoe trend of all time?
A: The almighty thong/flip flop…so many ways to make that pretty…and tan feet with polished toes…this is the best time of year for the shoe.
