All CAMPER shoes are $49.95 at 6pm

December 9, 2008

my bff calls and says, “i’m having a camping party for my birthday. you’ve gotta come down! you’ll love my friends.” a guy friend emails, “third annual camping bash, october 1-4. don’t miss it. it’s a great group of people!” what is this? summer’s pretty much over and everybody’s got campers on their mind? it does seem there’s a certain snap in the air, making a weekend outdoors not seem so impossibly hot. ok, i’m game.

i’m especially game when i see
6.pm has ALL THEIR CAMPER SHOES AT $49.95!!! what? i can hardly believe it. that’s… like… waaaaay better than a few burnt smores. at that price, one could pick a few for the get-away weekend. (yes, ladies, even in the great outdoors YOU must have your choices!)

for the gathering of wood, may we suggest the pull-on suede boot, LP-45359.

Getting to know Ruthie Davis of DAVIS by Ruthie Davis

December 7, 2008

Who is Ruthie Davis?
Ruthie Davis is a modernist who loves all things high tech and high fashion. The Davis resume is impressive: Director of the REEBOK CLASSIC division, Vice President of Design and Marketing at UGG® Australia and then Vice President of Women’s Footwear Design and Marketing at Tommy Hilfiger. She launched DAVIS by Ruthie Davis, her signature collection of designer women’s shoes in the spring of 2006.

Her design philosophy? She takes materials like Titanium, Chrome, Graphite and Carbon Fiber, and shapes them into cutting edge, architectural stilettos, wedges, and platforms with sleek and sexy patterns. “I like a totally integrated package where the woman, the lines of her body, her outfit and her fabulous shoes together make one fierce package that is ready to go, go, go. To me, the shoes are like the foundation of this total package.”

dsquared2 - how MUCH do i LOVE this shoe?

December 6, 2008

seriously, how much do i LOVE this shoe? how much do YOU? surfing shoe sites like zappos.com is not a bad gig, in fact it’s a downright fun-tastic way to spend ones work day! there ARE too many shoes to covet in any one particular season… i’m paradoxically cursed and blessed with seeing thousands each spring and fall. i say cursed, as i fall in love with many of them… and the exercise in self-restraint is often painful. what would i do with all of them? oh! i’d wear them, but i’ve already amassed a collection that affords me more than 1.7 pairs a day for a well-heeled year. but, i digress.

THIS SHOE! it’s kind of my favorite sherbet and grass green color combo. the slingback is dainty but necessary, while the heel height at 3 1/2″ inches is manageable. and that bowed ornament on the toe is simply snappy, just above the piped peep-toe. i’m practically drooling. perfect to pair with that summertime dress that reveals my sun-kissed shoulders. or to slip on under jeans so when i walk, the ladies stare. they are springtime spectacular! come to mama!!!! get your footwear fix of dsquared2 at Zappos.com…

hot “naut” shoe for under $100

December 6, 2008

so, while i fancy the finer footwear, i’m no fool. i like a bargain. or a well priced pair to begin with. case in point… “vanietta” by betsey johnson’s betseyville. i can’t stop staring at it… and wondering what it will sound like. all the jangles one might want. the studs on the side will shimmer as you slink about. the ankle strap will secure on it’s 4″ wooden heel. at $94.99, and free shipping, you’ll find these sassy sandals, UNDER $100, at heels.com. still hung up on the tchotchkes? think they’re tacky? who cares! pair this with a skinny cigarette pant and smoke the competition!

A mother of a shoe

December 6, 2008

happy mum’s day. hope it’s a good one for you and yours. and just for fun i went with mine to check out a few open houses near the big D. we traipsed across the hardwood floors, tested the kitchen cabinets and cooed at the spacious master closets. with 10- and 12-foot ceilings there was plenty of room for a lady’s needs but i noticed not a lot of attention was given to shoe space. seriously, where are the shoe-shelves people?

a grown woman needs a place for her footwear doesn’t she? at a minimum, in the largest house (5,900+ sq.ft) there was dedicated room for maybe 20 pair. boooooo! plenty of hanging space for accompanying clothes, but where would you put the shoes? i poo-pooed each place and came straight home in search for a sunday shoe.

prada’s whitewash sandal takes today’s cake. in vintage nappa leather and the open toe with grosgrain bow, it reminds me of something i pictured my mom in—back in her day with her permed hair and high-waisted belled jeans—but with a modern twist i’d be seen in. heels are getting sturdier, and this 110mm thick white wash wooden heel is no exception. at $595 they Kind of Rock! happy sunday.
