Gwyneth Paltrow in Rupert Sanderson’s

December 9, 2008

During the great Presidential election, JustJared exposed Gwyneth Paltrow’s dress at the Two Lovers premier in Paris. While you might have been side swiped by her Antonio Berardi dress, we want to know if you saw her shoes?!

We did!!! And they are none other than Rupert Sanderson’s “KitKat” two-toned ankle bootie.

We LOVE the shoes. You can get them at Linus Lounge — the swanky Dallas boutique famous for it’s finely edited collection of designers no other Big D retailers dare to carry.

As temps drop, be on the lookout for steamy resort shoes…

December 9, 2008

Sure, it’s cold outside. Warm your insides knowing as soon as temps allow, you can slide yourself into any these fabulous spring footwear. This next few weeks while you’re frantically shopping for your loved ones, saunter by your favorite shoe boutique for a little one-on-one with your favorite designers. It’ll ensure you’re no grinch. And to wet your merry whistle, we’re showing you what you can look forward to:
COLOR COMBO: The bold palette of the Davis by Ruthie Davis Mondrian-inspired pump will no doubt put some pep in your steph and Luciano Padovan’s nod to neon—the orange/fuchsia/blue neon peep-toe patent—will turn the heads, ladies. Calvin Klein mixes rich coral patent with tan-colored suede in a play of color and materials that garner attention. Gigi Favela combines several bold colors for her Ibiza

GOING NATIVE: Homage was paid to our country’s rich heritage from several designers who worked fringe and feathers into their footwear. Bettye Muller’s fringed-flat totally rocks. Angeleigh Anastasio offers a flirty T-strap suede sandal with a girlish grin and this darling flat from resort sandal maker bo’em turns up the fun factor! Born busts out whip-stitched and braided sandals and Pour la Victoire is bringing out a fun beaded moc.

MATERIAL: We’ve been anxiously waiting for Jessica Bennett’s stained green leather boot. Boots for spring show you’re just girlie enough to hang tough. Trust us. you. want. a. pair. Robert Zur’s “true glove” leather drivers feel like your most comfortable slippers. Be on the lookout for Frye’s vegetable-tanned leather whose colors are as yummy as their new silhouettes. Plus you’ll also see elastic straps worked into a few clever designs (think Colin Robertson from this year) and satin, satin, satin.

SHOE SHAPE: Platforms are still the height of fashion, folks. Modern Vintage collaborates with Johnny Wujek for a sculpted strappy sandal. Designer Georgina Goodman offers height with this strappy 130mm leather clog. Claudia Ciuti’s triple-strap crackle metallic leather platform with ankle strap is stunning. Claudio Merazzi who’s always good for a tall, stilt-like creation doesn’t disappoint with his fur and swarovsky collection.

If Hugh Jackman is the Sexiest Man Alive, his

December 9, 2008

Coincidently (wink! wink!) recently named People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive HUGH JACKMAN co-stars with silver screen siren Nicole Kidman in the epic period film Australia.
Baz Luhrmann’s film Australia opened this week, and making shoes news is the collaboration between the films Oscar winning costume designer Catherine Martin and “Shoemaker to the Stars” Salvatore Ferragamo resulting in an exceptional collection of “beautiful, original shoes.”
In the film, Ms. Kidman plays “Lady Sarah Ashley,” a 1940s aristocrat who embarks upon an epic journey. More than 2,000 costumes were created for the film. And according to Philstar.com, “Martin approached Ferragamo to collaborate on the design of Lady Sarah’s shoes. As Martin says, “When you think of the 1930s one of the first names of shoes that comes to mind is Ferragamo. Ferragamo is synonymous with famous persons from the past and has a long association of making shoes for films and of revolutionizing certain styling and manufacturing techniques.”
“One of the quintessential Ferragamo traits is their confidence to mix often exotic materials with more luxurious fabrics; the showcasing of this trait and use of materials such as shagreen is a wonderful complement to the exoticism of Northern Australia during this period.”

The glamorous evening sandal, in ruched deep red velvet with stingray accents, is offered for sale as a limited-edition style at Ferragamo stores NOW. And once the style is sold out, the shoe will return to the company’s archives at the Salvatore Ferragamo museum at Palazzo Spini in Florence, Italy.

Delman - warehouse shoe and boot sale!

December 9, 2008

Take it from someone who has previously sampled the sale at Delman, THIS IS THE PLACE TO BE. You’ll happily fight your way through a crowd of divas looking for your opinion on the same shoes you’re even eyeing. It’s harmless rivalry when you’re helping each other pick the perfect shade of gray suede. (We Sisters DO need to stick together!)

The VIPS (that’s YOU!) get to sample to the sale a night early. Probably a tad less busy, you’ll be able to noodle through the stacks and stacks of fall 08 merchandise and save a bundle.

christian louboutin at FIT in New York City

December 6, 2008

Mr. Louboutin was in the Big Apple last night, in conjunction with Sole Desire: The Shoes of Christian Louboutin at FIT, which traces the course of Louboutin’s career and places him in context with other important designers. FashionWeekDaily covered last night’s event. Did you know he was a landscape designer? He was! And his love for exotic destinations, such as Asia and North Africa have found expression in the colors and unexpected details of his shoes.

The exhibition makes a visual mention to the use of a red sole on his shoes, an innovative use of elements from historical styles - in the late seventeenth century Louis XIV wore red-heeled shoes to bring attention to his shapely calves and dancing skills. His influences from nature are hard to miss. Whether the use of a delicate floral print or a heel that echoes the bark of a tree.

Lest we turn our heads from the obvious nod to fetishist subculture? “There is a conspicuous link between women’s quasi-fetishistic desire to produce Louboutin shoes and the Hollywood celebrities who help people the phenomenon of “It” accessories.” There’s no coincidence his fame and success has coincided with the growth of star power. Seems the higher his heels, the more coveted they are.

Check out the slide show of some of the shoes displayed at the exhibition. Want to see them in person? It closes April 19. Need more info on how to get there, check out our events page (top nav under “shuznews & reviews”).
