After I’d logged into my account at one of other online social networks this afternoon, I noticed a friend who’d made a reference to throwing shoes at GWB. Too? I’m well aware of her political opinion and that her zest for expressing it will NEVER wane. But it wasn’t until I’d later passed the TV that I realized the relevancy of her comment.
As mentioned on The Huffington Post, “A shoe-throwing Iraqi journalist Muntadar al-Zaidi, a reporter with Cairo-based network Al Baghdadia Television, had experienced first-hand the brutal violence that consumed Iraq last year.” It is purported that he was kidnapped by Shiite militiamen, then released. Three years later.
This was the reporters’ way of insulting president Bush during his visit to Baghdad. “This is a farewell kiss you dog,” reports MSNBC of the message Zaidi intended. It was just three weeks ago that tens of thousands of Iraqis gathered in Firdous Square and pummeled his likeness with their shoes.
In a statement Bush-supporters may resonate with, Bush quipped, “So what if the guy threw his shoe at me?” “Let me talk about the guy throwing his shoe. It’s one way to gain attention. It’s like going to a political rally and having people yell at you. It’s like driving down the street and having people not gesturing with all five fingers…”
And with that I look forward to my friends five finger comment tomorrow.

We have talked a lot about boots this season and they are still the must have fashion item for fall 2008. But there are plenty of great shoes we need to talk about as well.
I think one of the more risky choices is one of the hottest shoes of the season from Christian Louboutin “Altadama” watersnake is it’s name. Why is it risky. Well not everyone can pull off the look that it takes to wear this shoe. If you are over 85 and feel a little unsure of the look for you that’s OK. But you can look as fab as a Celebrity. If you can wear the dark glasses you can wear the shoes. Has it been a while since you turn heads? Had them whispering as you walked by? Now is the time to get it back! You know what I am talking about. Make the guys turn their heads and Your girl friends too. Google Altadama to see who is wearing this shoe. You don’t have to sing to look like a star.

Taylor Swift wore her Jimmy Choo’s at the recent The Grammy Nominations Concert Live!! – Countdown to Music’s Biggest Night … celebrating the nominees of the 51st Annual Grammy Awards, airing Febuary 8th, 2009. According to USAToday.com recording Academy president Neil Portnow hopes the roster of talent will jump-start Grammys season with greater pizazz than the early-morning press conferences of previous years. “Everyone wants to know who’s nominated. We had an opportunity to raise the bar and tell this story in a much bigger fashion.”

Resort Collection
I Love this time of year. I hope you all love it too. The Best Is that trip to the Caribbean to see the beautiful blue water. Snorkel or swim in the waves off St John Island. Now if you are going down there this time of year you only need a couple of pair of shoes. This is one of those must haves. The incredible Mr Manolo Blahnik has done the shoe for everyday beach walking and that evening glass of wine as you watch the sunset. ShoeStream recently posted a list of top-10 tools and gadgets for shoe lovers, and then sent that list to shuzsociety. From lap-top stands to recycled-croc thingy, there’s something for everyone when a “shoe” doesn’t fit.
We found these electric footwear dryers at wishingfish especially intriguing. Crank them up as you head in the shower, and when you step out, your winter shoes will be ready for wear! Imagine them down inside a pair of Uggs? Mmmmm, now that’s toasty! They are currently SO HOT they are SOLD OUT. But keep checking!
Thanks ShoeStream for the lovely list of shoe gadgets!

Dior Platforms
These are the one’s in all the magazines. The platform look with an open toe cut out vamp, zipper back, on an architectural cut out platform that is out of this world. These are The Red Carpet shoes of the season. Dior is one of many designers that have a bit of whimsy in their style. We love this soft suede upper on the modern platform cut out bottom. As you look through notice the toe changes that are appearing as well. These neat squared off looks are changing the look and watch for them to come. The other big move forward is multi ankle strap gladiator looks watch for them coming for resort just a few weeks away. Enjoy-Shoes Designershoesblog.com Bill Dowling
